Katie is no stranger to the stage: both as a solo artist or as a member of groups both large and small. Katie can be relied upon to transport any audience with her original songs, and with her interpretations of both new and time-honoured pop hits with her incredible versatility and crystal clear voice.
Katie was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis before age 2 and was playing piano before age 5. She was reading music before she was reading books. She studied and fell in love with both playing and singing, performing classical and musical theatre, leading her to the prestigious and highly competitive Berklee College of Music. It was at Berklee that Katie began to discover her own style and develop her musical identity.
Her vocal stylings are influenced by Judy Garland, Adele, Michael Bublé, Amy Winhouse, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone. Katie boasts her versatility as her best asset. Depending on how she decides to interpret a melody or lyric, she uses combinations of straight tone, vibrato, a scat or a growl, as well as many other kinds of vocal inflections and nuances.
Katie is the vocalist in two jazz bands – Impromptu, and The Clefs.
Katie is featured monthly as the vocalist for the big band, The Georgian House Orchestra.
After taking time away from performing to raise her family, she is BACK! Katie has been giving her attention to her songwriting. This year she has performed a solo Fundraising Concert Series to raise money for a variety of charities, and to help cover the costs of recording her début album.
